Some Disney news:

It’s A Laugh Productions and Poor Soul Productions have begun production on the fourth season of the hit Disney XD comedy series “Kickin’ It”. Casting calls have gone out for new recurring roles, and will continue throughout the season for various characters. In addition to the actor casting calls, the extras are being hired on an ongoing basis. Disney XD announced that the show would be picked up for a fourth season back in August, 2013. Kickin’ It is the network’s highest-rated series in total viewers, and season 3 outperformed Season 2 in all ratings by double-digits. Kickin’ It season 4 is scheduled to air in 2014.

Disney casting directors are now searching for kids and teens who can play various series regular roles between the ages of 12 and 16. The show that is being cast is a brand new Disney Channel multi-camera 1/2 hour comedy series called "Super Awesome Katy". She show will begin shooting in January, 2014. Many other guest starring and recurring roles, including adult roles, will also be cast prior to the start of shooting, as well as during the season. They are conducting auditions in Los Angeles, CA. The extras will be cast throughout production on season one.

"Super Awesome Katy" centers on Katy Cooper, who seems to be your average 16 year old high school girl, but her life is actually a lot more interesting because she is really a contacted spy for a secret government agency. Katy becomes a super-intelligent, extremely mature, and an incredibly trustworthy fierce spy, taking after her parents who are also undercover spies. Katy's younger brother Josh becomes furious and sets out to prove his chops after discovering that Katy and his parents are undercover spies. Katy's fellow martial arts expert friend Elvis and her self-proclaimed "Latin American Princess" friend Marisa have no clue about Katy's secret double life.

Had a great time in Boston and saw about 300 young actors and models!  I had almost 60 callbacks and got to meet with almost all of them.  Unfortunately some of them live in upstate New York or other areas that I really cannot do much for them but as always I gave them my card and told them that they could contact me any time if they had questions.  Going to this type of event (as talent) the most important part of the event is LEARNING! Winning an award is great and getting callbacks are great but you should attend these events with the goal of learning more about the industry and how you can get started. It takes more than a model type to be a model, more than a pretty (or handsome) face to be an actor. Most success stories take years - not days.

Next I am off to Orlando - hope to see you there!

Work Permit for Minors

In the U.S., 25 states require child performers to obtain a work permit for paid performances in the entertainment industry, such as film, television and print modeling. Most parents can obtain a permit for their minor child relatively easily, and some states and locations offer faster, same-day service options if you need an immediate permit. Of the 25 states requiring a permit, California and New York have some of the most stringent regulations -- perhaps unsurprisingly, as these are the largest entertainment markets. If your child  finds work in either of these states, you will need to provide proof of the permit as a condition of employment.
